With the
forecasts predicting icy, cold weather
and the possibility of snow later this week, the American Red Cross
Mount Rainier Chapter urges local residents to take precautions
against the dangers of winter weather by taking a few
moments to prepare now.
Prepare a Winter Storm Plan
· Have
extra blankets on hand.
· Ensure
that each member of your family
has a warm coat, gloves or mittens, hat,
and water-resistant boots.

Winter Travel Survival Kit

· Battery-powered
NOAA Weather radio and
extra batteries
· Flashlight
and extra batteries

Blankets or sleeping bags
·
Booster cables
·
Fire extinguisher (A-B-C type, 5 lb.)
·
First aid kit and manual
·
Essential medication
·
Bottled water (at least one gallon of water
per person per day to last at least 3 days)
·
Canned food, non-perishable high-energy
foods: such as granola bars, raisins and
peanut butter
·
Can opener
· Compass
and road maps
·
Shovel
·
Tire repair kit and pump
·
Flares
·
Extra clothing to keep dry, including boots,
mittens, and a hat.

Sack of sand or cat litter (for tire traction)

Tow Rope

Car winterized before the storm season
