			When disaster strikes, the results can be quite devastating. In the midst of chaos, the American Red Cross offers hope and comfort to those in need. Local Red Cross volunteers and staff work with each family affected by a disaster to determine their immediate, emergency needs. The role of the Red Cross is to help people begin the road to recovery by providing assistance for food, shoes, clothing, medication replacement, and locating a safe place to stay.
