National Disaster Relief
The American Red Cross National Disaster Relief Fund
ensures that financial resources are available for an immediate response to the disaster-related needs of communities throughout America, including house fires, hurricanes, floods and earthquakes, as well as man-made disasters such as chemical spills, train derailments and aviation disasters.
The National Disaster Relief Fund enables the Red Cross to provide timely emergency assistance, such as food, shelter, clothing and mental health counseling, as well as other
basic relief services that will assist and lead to recovery without regard to the potential for recovering the cost of the services provided.
All Red Cross disaster assistance is free, made possible by voluntary donations of time and money from the American people. You can help the victims of
disasters across the country each year by making a financial gift to the American Red Cross
National Disaster Relief Fund, which enables the Red Cross to provide shelter, food, counseling and other assistance to those in need.

International Response
Fund
The International Response Fund (IRF) enables the American Red Cross to respond to people's needs around the globe.
The Red Cross responds to sudden onset disasters, conflict situations, long-term humanitarian crises affecting health, sanitation, displacement of people, and the availability of safe and adequate supplies of food and water.
As in all conflicts, the Red Cross will provide appropriate humanitarian assistance in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), as lead agency.
As part of the Red Cross and Red Cross Movement, the American Red Cross works together with the International Federation of the Red Cross, Red Crescent and other national societies to support the provision of humanitarian relief to war victims during an armed conflict.
-
The American Red Cross
provides material and personnel support as needed.
-
The Red Cross will offer assistance to civilians affected by the conflict, including tracing and message services on behalf of prisoners of war and separated civilians.
-
Assistance is provided in accordance with the Red Cross fundamental principles of humanity, impartiality and neutrality.
The Red Cross is not a government agency. A financial gift to the International Response Fund ensures the Red Cross response to the Iraq crisis and countless others around the world each year can be immediate, regardless of the type of crisis or its location.

Armed
Forces Emergency Services (AFES)
The American Red Cross supports members of
the U.S. military and their families by:
-
Facilitating emergency communications and
through the mobilization and deployment of AFES Red Cross staff, who live and work alongside
U.S. troops worldwide
-
Reaching out to the “changing face” of the military, members of the National Guard/Reserves and their
families
-
Providing other social services including access to financial assistance, verification of information required for emergency leave, counseling, family support and veterans
assistance
The American Red Cross needs the financial support of the public to help in its efforts to support members of the military and their families.
-
The Red Cross relays hundreds of urgent messages each day regarding a serious illness, death of a loved one, or the joyous birth of a child. If a family needs to reach a military member in an emergency, the Red Cross is there to support them
through Red Cross Chapters across the nation, Red Cross Stations on military installations worldwide and
two state-of-the-art communication centers.
-
Currently Red Cross teams are deployed – linking and working alongside – troops stationed in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Kosovo and Afghanistan.
-
The face of the military is changing; many Americans being called to service are leaving their daily roles of parent, co-worker, neighbor or friend.
The Red Cross found that all too often these service members, Reserves and National Guard didn’t know about valuable Red Cross services until they were mobilized. The organization
has begun an aggressive outreach effort, “Get to Know Us Before You Need Us” to
reach these populations.
-
The Red Cross is helping to meet the emergency financial needs of military families with no other resources available to
them.
-
The Red Cross is not a government agency. We rely on the financial assistance of caring supporters to help us deliver
our critical services to the U.S. military and their families.
-
Your financial gift to AFES will support the nationally coordinated Red Cross services provided to military families across the country, and to American service men and women located throughout the world.
You can support
U.S. military members and their families through the American Red Cross as we
provide assistance and comfort. Please make
a financial donation to the American Red Cross Armed Forces Emergency Services.
